R.K. Chaudhary, CMD, NHPC attended the 23rd India Power Forum conference as a distinguished panelist in the CEO’s Round Table discussion on the theme “Towards a Net Zero Compliant Power Sector for a Developed India.” The conference was organized by the India Energy Forum in New Delhi on 21st Oct, 2024. During the discussion, CMD, NHPC highlighted the milestones set by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India at COP-26, Glasgow, in the form of ‘Panchamrit’. He emphasized that if India is able to achieve the intermediate milestones set for 2030 & 2047, the country will certainly meet its Net Zero Emission target by 2070.

CMD, NHPC also mentioned that NHPC plans to contribute about 50 GW of non-fossil energy capacity in the next 5-7 years, aligning with the nation’s goal of achieving 500 GW by 2030 and emphasized on the need to boost the development of PSPs which will not only act as giant hydro batteries but will also contribute in decarbonization
