India and Qatar launched UPI payments at QNB, expanding cross-border digital payments.

India and Qatar have recently launched the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) at Qatar National Bank’s (QNB) point-of-sale terminals, aiming to expand UPI acceptance across Qatar. This initiative enables Indian travelers to use their preferred payment method at retail stores, tourist attractions, and other establishments in Qatar.

UPI, developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), has gained international traction, with acceptance in several countries:
United Arab Emirates (UAE)
-Singapore
– Bhutan
– Nepal
– Mauritius
– Sri Lanka
– France

These developments enhance the convenience for Indian travelers and promote seamless cross-border transactions.

The collaboration between NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) and QNB signifies a strategic move to integrate UPI into Qatar’s financial ecosystem, benefiting both Indian visitors and the local economy.
