WCL Strengthens Healthcare in Vidarbha with ₹1.69 Crore Medical Equipment Donation under CSR

(THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM) Nagpur, April 22, 2025 — On April 22, 2025, Dr. Hemant Shard Pande, Director (HR), Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), inaugurated new medical equipment at Dr. Hedgewar Blood Centre, Nagpur. The support was extended under WCL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative at a total cost of ₹169.26 lakhs.
The equipment includes the Spectra Optia Apheresis System, Cryofuge Centrifuges, and the Evolis 4 Plate ELISA Processor. With the addition of these machines, the Centre is now better equipped to help thalassemia patients, sickle cell patients, and others in need of critical care.
During the event, Dr. Pande said that WCL is committed to helping those in need and backing institutions that work with care and dedication in the medical field.
Dr. Hedgewar Blood Centre has been active in the Vidarbha region since 1993 and has played an important role in ensuring that patients do not suffer due to a lack of blood. With this new support, the Centre continues its mission: “None shall suffer for want of blood.”
This effort by WCL adds to its ongoing work in community welfare and public health support.
