IRCON Secures ₹458 Crore Contract for Tato-I Hydro Electric Project in Arunachal Pradesh

Shillong, May 2, 2025 — Ircon International Limited (IRCON), a leading infrastructure and engineering company under the Ministry of Railways, has been awarded a significant contract by the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) for the construction of key civil works at the Tato-I Hydro Electric Project in Arunachal Pradesh.

Valued at ₹458.14 crore, the contract involves extensive civil engineering responsibilities including the construction of headworks, a head race channel, head race pipe, intake structures, a head race tunnel, surge shaft, pressure shaft, valve house, power house, and various associated infrastructure components.

The Tato-I Hydro Electric Project, situated in the Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, is a strategically important venture aimed at boosting renewable energy generation in the Northeast region of India. Once operational, the project is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing energy security, supporting regional development, and contributing to India’s clean energy goals.

This latest contract further strengthens IRCON’s presence in the hydropower infrastructure sector, reaffirming its capabilities in executing complex engineering projects in challenging terrains. The company has a strong track record of delivering high-value projects both in India and abroad.

NEEPCO, a central public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Power, is actively involved in harnessing the hydropower potential of the Northeastern region. Its collaboration with IRCON underscores a continued push toward sustainable infrastructure development in India’s frontier states.
