New Health Sub-Center to Bring Vital Medical Services to Remote Village

Zochachhuah, Mizoram — In a move that underscores its commitment to social development and public welfare, IRCON International Ltd., a leading infrastructure public sector enterprise, has initiated the construction of a much-needed Health Sub-Center in the remote village of Zochachhuah, nestled in the Lawngtlai district of Mizoram.

The foundation stone for the facility was formally laid today by Shri Cheemala Siva Gopal Reddy (IAS), Deputy Commissioner of Lawngtlai, in a ceremony attended by the Chief General Manager of IRCON and other distinguished guests. The event marked a pivotal moment in the region’s journey toward better healthcare access.

For years, residents of Zochachhuah and nearby areas have faced significant challenges in accessing basic medical services, often traveling long distances through difficult terrain to reach the nearest health facility. The upcoming Health Sub-Center aims to change that, offering primary healthcare, maternal and child health services, and emergency care within reach of hundreds of families.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Commissioner Reddy emphasized the importance of the initiative: “This Sub-Center will bridge a crucial gap in our healthcare infrastructure. It is not just a building, but a symbol of care, access, and support for our people.”

IRCON’s initiative is a part of its broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, which aims to uplift underdeveloped regions by investing in essential services. Known primarily for its contributions to large-scale transport and infrastructure projects, IRCON is increasingly recognized for integrating community-focused efforts into its development footprint.

A senior IRCON representative highlighted the motivation behind the project: “At IRCON, we believe that infrastructure is not only about roads and railways—it’s also about building resilient communities. With this Health Sub-Center, we hope to make a tangible difference in people’s lives.”

The new facility is expected to be equipped with basic diagnostic tools, outpatient services, and facilities to manage common illnesses and injuries. Once completed, it will be staffed by trained medical personnel and integrated into the state’s healthcare network, ensuring sustained service delivery.

For the people of Zochachhuah, the promise of a nearby health center is more than a convenience—it is a lifeline. As construction begins, so does the hope for a healthier, more secure future for this rural community in Mizoram.
