WAPCOS, OHPC Sign PMC Contract for 600 MW Upper Indravati PSP in Odisha

(THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM) In a significant development for Odisha’s renewable energy sector, a contract agreement for providing Project Management Consultancy (PMC) services for the 600 MW Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project was formally signed between WAPCOS and Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC) on June 6, 2025, in Bhubaneswar.
The contract signing ceremony took place in the esteemed presence of Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, underscoring the project’s strategic importance to the state’s energy infrastructure. The agreement was exchanged between Amitabh Tripathi, Director (Commercial & HRD), WAPCOS, and A.K. Mohanty, Director (Operation), OHPC.
Also gracing the occasion were senior government dignitaries including Smt. Anu Garg, IAS, Development Commissioner cum Additional Chief Secretary, Water Resources Department and Planning & Convergence Department, and Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, Principal Secretary, Energy Department, Government of Odisha. Senior officials from both WAPCOS and OHPC were in attendance to witness this landmark collaboration.
The Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project is expected to significantly enhance Odisha’s power capacity and contribute to grid stability by facilitating efficient energy storage and peak load management.
