New Delhi, July 18, 2025: Engineers India Limited (EIL), a premier engineering consultancy organization, has achieved a significant milestone in India’s clean energy journey by successfully providing Project Management Consultancy (PMC) services for the 132-km Durgapur–Kolkata section of the Durgapur–Haldia Natural Gas Pipeline, a critical part of the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga (PMUG) project.

This section of the pipeline was inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on July 18, 2025, at Durgapur, West Bengal. The development marks a transformative step in ensuring sustainable energy access for industries and households across the region.

The Urja Ganga pipeline network, which now spans over 1,030 km and comprises the Dobhi–Durgapur, Durgapur–Haldia, and Dhamra–Haldia pipelines, features pipeline diameters of 30″, 24″, 18″, and 12″. EIL, in its capacity as PMC, played a crucial role in the timely and efficient execution of this technically challenging project.

Notably, the project involved navigating complex Right of Use (RoU) acquisition issues and included approximately 130 crossings executed through the Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) technique. Among the most remarkable was the crossing of the Roopnarayan River, completed using the HDD Intersect Method, spanning approximately 2.8 km.

This accomplishment further underscores EIL’s engineering excellence and continued commitment to advancing India’s energy infrastructure and transition goals. It also adds to the company’s impressive track record in executing pipeline projects across diverse terrains.
