As 14 August 2025 marks the second death anniversary of Sanjay Sharma, the loss still feels fresh to those who knew him — as a colleague, a friend, or simply as someone whose warmth could light up a room. Sanjay was more than just a seasoned journalist in the English news segment; he was a man who believed in the power of relationships, in lending a hand, and in always standing by those he called friends.
Professionally, Sanjay’s career was a testament to dedication and integrity. He began his journey in the 1990s with Fress Press later 1995 he joined Sahara Times as State Correspondent, covering Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh for over 15 years. He later brought his sharp news sense to The Observer Group of Publications and Reuters India Ltd., delivering impactful reports on politics, business, crime, and culture. From 2006 to 2010, as Principal Correspondent for Indo Asian News Service, his work carried the voice of Madhya Pradesh to the national stage, with deeply researched stories on malnutrition, female foeticide, and other pressing issues. His last role was as Editor – magazine, his editorial judgment and newsroom leadership continued to inspire.
But it was outside the headlines that Sanjay’s truest qualities shone. Known for his vast network and impeccable public relations, he was “a friend of friends” — the one who would pick up the phone, connect the dots, and ensure help reached where it was needed. His warmth was genuine, his loyalty steadfast, and his generosity boundless.
Those who worked with Sanjay remember him as a straightforward journalist who never compromised on ethics. He believed in “following the book” — not just as a professional rule, but as a way of life. His integrity was his legacy, and his kindness his greatest story.
Two years may have passed, but in the hearts of those who knew him, Sanjay Sharma remains irreplaceable — a professional who embodied the spirit of journalism and a human being who embodied the spirit of friendship.
