The Centre has appointed Shilpa Sachin Shinde, a 2006-batch IAS officer of the UT cadre, as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Water and Power Consultancy Services (WAPCOS). Her appointment, approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), will be for a tenure of five years.

An official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) confirmed the appointment. Shinde’s induction is expected to bring fresh leadership and energy to WAPCOS, a premier consultancy organization under the Jal Shakti Ministry, known for its expertise in water resources, power, and infrastructure development projects.

She takes over at a time when the organization is preparing to scale up its role in national and international projects. The new appointment is seen as a step towards strengthening WAPCOS with dynamic administrative experience and forward-looking leadership.
