By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA : Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) Secretary Arunish Chawla has expressed confidence that the government will surpass last year’s record dividend payout of nearly Rs 1.2 lakh crore from public sector enterprises in FY26.
He noted that dividend distribution by PSUs has doubled over the past five years, contributing significantly to small investors. “Although PSUs account for just 14% of market capitalisation, they deliver almost 25% of dividends. That momentum will continue,” Chawla remarked.
On the asset monetisation front, DIPAM expects to remain on track during FY26. Chawla also pointed out that budgetary capital support has been moving as planned, with one-third of the annual target already met by July. He further emphasised the deepening participation of individual investors in capital markets, highlighting that nearly two-thirds of domestic institutional investors are now retail investors, despite recent market uncertainties.
