PESB Emphasises Timely Submission of Complete Vigilance Profiles for Board-Level Selections

By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has issued an important advisory to all Ministries, Departments, and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) stressing the need for the timely and complete submission of vigilance profiles of candidates considered for board-level appointments.

In its recent communication dated October 3, 2025, PESB highlighted that during selection meetings for senior positions in various PSUs, the Board reviews the vigilance status of all shortlisted candidates for the preceding ten years. This is a crucial step to ensure transparency and integrity in the selection process for top management roles.

However, the Board noted that in several recent cases, the vigilance profiles submitted by Nodal Officers covered only the period during which a candidate served under the concerned Ministry or PSU — falling short of the mandatory ten-year requirement prescribed by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC). PESB cautioned that such incomplete submissions not only cause administrative inconvenience but may also render candidates ineligible for interviews.

To address this recurring issue, PESB has urged all concerned authorities to direct their Nodal Officers to ensure that the complete vigilance profile — covering the last ten years and duly signed by the Head of Department (HOD) or Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) — is furnished at least two days prior to the selection meeting.

The Board further advised that these vigilance profiles should also be uploaded on the PESB website to maintain procedural efficiency and avoid any delay or disqualification of candidates during the selection process.

This directive underscores PESB’s continued commitment to maintaining transparency, procedural rigor, and fairness in the selection of board-level executives across India’s public sector enterprises — ensuring that merit and integrity remain the cornerstones of leadership appointments.
