THDCIL Mourns the Demise of R K Vishnoi, CMD; Nation Remembers His Dedicated Service

Vishnoi, a widely respected administrator and engineer, had been leading THDC since August 2021 and was also entrusted with the additional charge of CMD, NHPC – a reflection of the trust and esteem he commanded in India’s power sector. His untimely demise is a profound loss to the nation, the power fraternity, and all those who worked closely with him.
Under his stewardship, THDC India Ltd — an NTPC arm operating major thermal and renewable energy projects across Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Kerala — continued to strengthen its footprint and enhance its contribution to India’s energy security. The company expressed heartfelt condolences, noting that *“his leadership and dedicated service to the nation will be remembered with profound respect.”*
A Civil Engineering graduate from BITS Pilani, Vishnoi began his journey with THDCIL in 1989 as an engineer. Over more than three decades, he rose through the ranks — becoming General Manager in 2013, Executive Director in 2016, and ultimately taking charge as CMD in 2021. His career stood as an inspiring example of commitment, excellence, and integrity.
Beyond his organizational responsibilities, he also represented India at the International Commission on Large Dams, contributing to global technical expertise on seismic safety of dams.
According to sources, the funeral ceremony is expected to be held in Rishikesh on Sunday.
