The appointment has been made as per statutory provisions, with the Ministry of Personnel issuing the official notification confirming his elevation to the top post in the transparency watchdog.

Eight Appointed Information Commissioners in CIC
The Central Government has appointed Ashutosh Chaturvedi, PR Ramesh, Sanjeev Kumar Jindal, Khushwant Singh Sethi, Surendra Singh Meena, Swagat Das, Sudha Rani Relangi and Jaya Varma Sinha as Information Commissioners in the Central Information Commission with effect from the afternoon of 15 December 2025, the Ministry of Personnel said.
