Tourism Leadership Converges at The Ashok to Shape India’s National Tourism Agenda

The meeting brought together Tourism Secretaries from States and Union Territories along with key representatives from leading industry and trade associations, reflecting a strong spirit of institutional collaboration.

The deliberations focused on aligning national tourism priorities with state-level strategies, strengthening policy coordination, and addressing emerging challenges and opportunities in tourism development. With tourism playing a vital role in economic growth, employment generation, and cultural diplomacy, the forum served as a platform for open dialogue between policymakers and industry stakeholders.

Mugdha Sinha, IAS, Managing Director, India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), addressed the gathering, underscoring the importance of government-industry partnership in enhancing destination infrastructure, service quality, and global competitiveness. She highlighted ITDC’s role in supporting national tourism objectives through its hospitality assets, event infrastructure, and professional services, particularly at iconic properties such as The Ashok.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Tourism participated in the discussions, alongside State Tourism Secretaries who shared region-specific perspectives, best practices, and innovative initiatives aimed at boosting domestic and inbound tourism. Representatives from major industry bodies, including FAITH and IATO, provided valuable inputs on market trends, policy reforms, ease of doing business, and the need for sustained engagement between the public and private sectors.

The meeting reaffirmed the government’s commitment to collaborative tourism governance, with an emphasis on inclusive growth, sustainable development, and positioning India as a globally preferred travel destination. The convergence at The Ashok symbolised a unified national approach towards shaping the future of Indian tourism through dialogue, coordination, and shared vision.
