MP-IPS Service Meet–2026 Opens in Bhopal with Focus on Security, Reforms and Police Welfare

The IPS Service Meet–2026 commenced with grandeur at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre in Bhopal on 16 January 2026. Organised by the Indian Police Service Association (Madhya Pradesh), the event was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp in the presence of Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav and Director General of Police Kailash Makwana.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav praised the courage, discipline and commitment of Madhya Pradesh Police, underlining that strong law and order is essential for internal security and overall development of the state. He described the effective elimination of Naxalism as a historic achievement of the state police, stating that it has paved the way for peace, stability and accelerated development across affected regions.
Highlighting the role of police and civil services in strengthening democratic institutions, the Chief Minister said that the Indian Administrative and Police Services have consistently upheld constitutional values, institutional stability and public trust. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by police personnel who remain away from their families to safeguard citizens, calling their service a symbol of the highest sense of duty and social responsibility.
Dr Yadav also addressed issues related to police morale, assuring that decisions on pending promotion matters would be taken positively at the earliest. He added that recruitment processes would be expedited to strengthen operational capacity. Reiterating a zero-tolerance policy towards organised crime and anti-national activities, he said Madhya Pradesh would continue to adopt a firm and uncompromising approach.
Commending the police force for initiatives in cybercrime control, implementation of new central criminal laws and adoption of modern policing practices, the Chief Minister termed Madhya Pradesh Police a model for the country. Calling 2025 a year of achievements, he urged the force to continue serving the public with discipline and dedication in 2026.
Director General of Police Kailash Makwana presented a comprehensive overview of the force’s key achievements in 2025 and outlined future priorities. He spoke on the eradication of the Naxal challenge, strengthening of Dial-112 services, implementation of the e-Zero FIR system, recovery of missing children, Safe Click cyber awareness campaign, mental health and stress management initiatives for police personnel, de-addiction drives, recruitment board reforms and investigation allowance. He also shared updates on preparations for Simhastha 2028 in Ujjain.
Describing Simhastha 2028 as a major responsibility for Madhya Pradesh Police, Makwana said the event would require extensive planning for crowd management and security of millions of pilgrims. He emphasised that availability of adequate police manpower would be critical and stressed the need for timely and well-planned recruitment.
He noted that recruitment in certain cadres is being undertaken after nearly eight years, including Sub-Inspectors, Subedars, Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ministerial) and stenographers. A detailed manpower assessment has been completed and proposals for necessary approvals will be sent to the state government. He also underlined the importance of strengthening the Police Recruitment Board to ensure transparency and efficiency.
Following the inaugural session, noted speaker Rajesh Pandit delivered an inspiring lecture on “Inside the Mind’s Eye”. Pandit, a respected management consultant, academician and start-up mentor, has been associated with institutions such as IIM Ahmedabad and the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.
The IPS Service Meet–2026 is being held in Bhopal on 16 and 17 January 2026. The two-day event has brought together IPS officers from across the state along with their families. The meet aims to foster professional dialogue, strengthen coordination among officers, and promote cultural and familial bonding in a congenial environment.
