International Media Delegation Visits JNPA to Witness India’s Port-Led Growth Story

By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| Mumbai, January 20th, 2026: Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) – India’s Largest Container Port, hosted a delegation of 27 international media journalists representing 26 International countries on Tuesday, January 20th, 2026, as part of a familiarization tour organised by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The visit provided journalists with an in-depth overview of India’s largest container port and its pivotal role in facilitating global trade. As part of the programme, the delegation was taken on a guided port visit to one of the container terminals at JNPA operated by DP World, where they witnessed live cargo handling operations and the application of advanced mechanisation and digital systems. The visit was followed by a fruitful interaction with JNPA officials, during which the delegation engaged in detailed discussions on port-led development, ease of doing business, and India’s expanding maritime footprint. The journalists were also apprised of JNPA’s upcoming infrastructure projects with special emphasis on Vadhvan Port which is poised to be amongst the top 10 container ports globally, ongoing research and development initiatives, and its long-term vision for sustainable and future-ready port operations. The interaction highlighted India’s rapid strides in the maritime and logistics sector, showcasing how cutting-edge technology, process innovation, and strategic planning are enabling seamless cargo movement across global trade corridors. Speaking on the occasion, the Gaurav Dayal, IAS, Chairperson, JNPA, said, “JNPA has long served as a critical gateway for India’s trade and cooperation with other countries. A substantial volume of supplies and humanitarian assistance from the Government of India to African and other countries is routed through JN Port. Hosting the international media delegation allowed us to showcase India’s advanced port capabilities, efficient cargo handling systems, while underscoring India’s growing role in global logistics and connectivity.” The familiarization visit was part of MEA’s ongoing efforts to engage foreign media representatives through structured exposure to India’s growth story, contemporary developments, and institutional strengths. These interactions aim to enhance awareness and understanding of India’s progress across sectors, while also providing foreign media professionals direct access to key stakeholders from the public and private sectors. Such initiatives contribute significantly to fostering informed and balanced international media coverage by enabling firsthand interactions, thereby addressing misinformation and misinterpretation, and strengthening people-to-people and media-to-media ties between India and partner countries.
