The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a series of senior-level appointments and tenure extensions across key departments, including Higher Education, Home Affairs, Health, and state policing, reinforcing administrative continuity and leadership stability at the Centre and in Meghalaya.

Idashisha Nongrang Gets Six-Month Service Extension as Meghalaya DGP

Idashisha Nongrang, IPS (AM:1992), Director General of Police, Meghalaya, has been granted a six-month extension in service beyond May 19, 2026. The extension has been approved as a special case in public interest, relaxing provisions under Rule 16(1) of the AIS (DCRB) Rules, 1958.

K. M. Praphullachandra Sharma Appointed OSD in Higher Education

K. M. Praphullachandra Sharma, IFS (2006), has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (Joint Secretary level) in the Department of Higher Education for two years. The post has been temporarily upgraded from DS/Director level to Joint Secretary. His tenure will be effective from the date of assuming charge or until further orders.

Sunil Kumar Barnwal’s Deputation as NHA CEO Extended Till December 2027

Sunil Kumar Barnwal, IAS (JH:1997), will continue as Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Authority under the Department of Health & Family Welfare. His central deputation tenure has been extended up to December 2, 2027, or until further orders, ensuring continuity in flagship health initiatives.

Nitesh Kumar Vyas to Continue as Additional Secretary, MHA Till 2028

Nitesh Kumar Vyas, IAS (MP:1996), has received a two-year extension in his central deputation as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs. His tenure will now continue beyond May 30, 2026, up to May 30, 2028, or until further orders, maintaining senior-level stability in the ministry.
