Parliament Data Reveals 1,300 IAS, 505 IPS and 1,029 IFS Vacancies Across States

The Government has placed comprehensive cadre-wise data on the status of IAS, IPS and IFS officers before Parliament, presenting sanctioned strength, officers in position and vacancies as on January 1, 2025.

Overall vacancies stand at 1,300 in IAS, 505 in IPS and 1,029 in IFS. The total authorised strength is 6,877 in IAS, 5,099 in IPS and 3,193 in IFS, against which 5,577 IAS, 4,594 IPS and 2,164 IFS officers are in position.

Cadre-wise figures show:

AGMUT has an authorised strength of 542 IAS (406 in position), 457 IPS (427 in position) and 302 IFS (201 in position).

Andhra Pradesh has 239 IAS (195 in position), 174 IPS (140 in position) and 82 IFS (67 in position).

Assam–Meghalaya has 263 IAS (214 in position), 195 IPS (157 in position) and 142 IFS (90 in position).

Bihar has 359 IAS (303 in position), 242 IPS (241 in position) and 74 IFS (50 in position).

Chhattisgarh has 202 IAS (164 in position), 142 IPS (135 in position) and 153 IFS (116 in position).

Gujarat has 313 IAS (255 in position), 208 IPS (203 in position) and 125 IFS (77 in position).

Haryana has 215 IAS (172 in position), 144 IPS (127 in position) and 58 IFS (44 in position).

Himachal Pradesh has 153 IAS (117 in position), 96 IPS (84 in position) and 114 IFS (90 in position).

Jharkhand has 224 IAS (177 in position), 158 IPS (143 in position) and 142 IFS (84 in position).

Karnataka has 314 IAS (273 in position), 224 IPS (203 in position) and 164 IFS (113 in position).

Kerala has 231 IAS (157 in position), 172 IPS (150 in position) and 107 IFS (78 in position).

Madhya Pradesh has 459 IAS (391 in position), 319 IPS (271 in position) and 296 IFS (209 in position).

Maharashtra has 435 IAS (359 in position), 329 IPS (306 in position) and 206 IFS (139 in position).

Manipur has 115 IAS (80 in position), 91 IPS (85 in position) and 58 IFS (25 in position).

Nagaland has 94 IAS (53 in position), 80 IPS (65 in position) and 45 IFS (29 in position).

Odisha has 248 IAS (185 in position), 195 IPS (132 in position) and 141 IFS (82 in position).

Punjab has 231 IAS (198 in position), 172 IPS (138 in position) and 61 IFS (43 in position).

Rajasthan has 332 IAS (268 in position), 222 IPS (216 in position) and 145 IFS (106 in position).

Sikkim has 48 IAS (36 in position), 32 IPS (30 in position) and 30 IFS (26 in position).

Tamil Nadu has 394 IAS (343 in position), 276 IPS (242 in position) and 152 IFS (102 in position).

Telangana has 208 IAS (174 in position), 139 IPS (134 in position) and 81 IFS (60 in position).

Tripura has 102 IAS (74 in position), 69 IPS (63 in position) and 60 IFS (50 in position).

Uttar Pradesh has 652 IAS (571 in position), 541 IPS (510 in position) and 217 IFS (114 in position).

Uttarakhand has 126 IAS (109 in position), 75 IPS (73 in position) and 112 IFS (70 in position).

West Bengal has 378 IAS (303 in position), 347 IPS (319 in position) and 126 IFS (99 in position).

The reply also provided category-wise data on direct recruitment through CSE 2020 to CSE 2024. In the IAS, 245 OBC, 135 SC and 67 ST candidates were appointed. In the IPS, 255 OBC, 141 SC and 71 ST candidates were inducted. In the IFS, 231 OBC, 95 SC and 48 ST candidates were appointed during the five-year period.
