Maharashtra Signs Three-Year MoU with Tata Trusts to Strengthen Nutrition Outcomes

By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| In a significant step towards improving nutrition indicators, the Department of Women & Child Development, Maharashtra, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tata Trusts to address malnutrition challenges across the state. The initiative has been undertaken under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The three-year collaboration aims to strengthen and accelerate ongoing nutrition initiatives through focused, evidence-based interventions. The partnership will prioritise prevention of stunting among children, reduction of underweight and wasting in the 0–6 age group, tackling adolescent malnutrition and anaemia, and promoting dietary diversity at the household level.
Tata Trusts, led by Chairman Noel Tata, will provide technical expertise and knowledge support to design and implement targeted strategies. The Government of Maharashtra will ensure administrative coordination, convergence across departments, and integration with existing schemes and programmes.
Dr Anup Yadava, IAS, Secretary, Women and Child Development, Government of Maharashtra, is overseeing the implementation and coordination of the initiative at the administrative level.
The initiative will initially be rolled out in Gadchiroli, Nagpur and other mutually agreed districts. The effort is being supported by Minister Aditi Sunil Tatkare and State Minister Meghana Deepak Sakore Bordikar.
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to delivering measurable impact and strengthening nutrition security for vulnerable children and communities across Maharashtra.
