By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| Varun Nayyar, an Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) officer of the 2014 batch, has been selected for appointment as Internal Financial Advisor (IFA) at the Deputy Secretary level in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) under the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

The appointment has been made under the Central Staffing Scheme following his recommendation for Central deputation by the Ministry of Defence. According to the official order, Nayyar will assume charge of the post in the CBI and serve until December 12, 2028, representing a combined tenure of four years across ex-cadre and Central Staffing Scheme assignments, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

As Internal Financial Advisor, Nayyar will be responsible for overseeing financial management, budgeting, expenditure control and related advisory functions within the premier investigating agency.

The competent authority has directed that he be relieved of his current duties immediately to enable him to take up the new assignment in the CBI without delay.

The order also reiterates the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) guidelines communicated through the DoPT’s circular dated August 17, 2005. Under these instructions, officers appointed under the Central Staffing Scheme are required to join their assigned posts within three weeks of the issuance of the appointment order. Failure to do so may result in initiation of debarment proceedings from future Central Staffing Scheme assignments.
