MP Police Wins National Award for Passport Verification Excellence for Second Consecutive Year

The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, has conferred the prestigious “Institutional Performance Award for State Police” on Madhya Pradesh Police for achieving the highest performance in passport verification among states handling fewer than five lakh passport applications during the financial year 2025-26.
The award was presented by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar at a ceremony held on Friday at CB Muthamma Hall, Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan, New Delhi. Madhya Pradesh was represented by Deputy Inspector General (Law & Order) Tarun Nayak and Assistant Inspector General (Special Branch Security) Rashmi Mishra.
Between April 2025 and March 2026, Madhya Pradesh Police completed **3,35,647 passport verifications** in a timely and quality-driven manner. Based on this exceptional performance, the Ministry of External Affairs awarded the state the First Prize (Citation) in the category of states processing fewer than five lakh passport applications.
Director General of Police Kailash Makwana congratulated all district police units, Special Branch personnel, and officers and staff associated with passport verification. He stated that the recognition reflects the collective dedication, professionalism, and citizen-centric approach of the entire Madhya Pradesh Police force. He also urged personnel to continue delivering prompt, transparent, and high-quality public services.
Significantly, Madhya Pradesh Police had secured the same prestigious national award last year as well. By winning the honour for the second consecutive year, the force has once again demonstrated its efficiency, accountability, technological adaptability, and commitment to providing seamless citizen services.
The achievement is being viewed as a testament to the state police’s sustained efforts to simplify, expedite, and strengthen passport verification processes through a technology-driven and service-oriented approach.
