SECL Represents Coal India at BRICS Trade Union Forum Summit

South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) represented Coal India Limited at the BRICS Trade Union Forum Summit, being held in Hyderabad from 14 to 16 July 2026 under India’s BRICS Chairship 2026.
On the occasion, Biranchi Das, Director (Human Resources), SECL, participated in a panel discussion on “Best Practices in BRICS+ Countries”, where he shared Coal India’s key initiatives in human resource management, employee welfare and organisational development with international delegates.
During his address, Das highlighted Coal India’s people-centric HR practices for its workforce of over 220,000 employees, one of the largest among public sector employers in the country. He spoke about the company’s initiatives in employee welfare, women empowerment, skill development and harmonious industrial relations, emphasizing how participative work culture and employee-focused policies have contributed to organisational excellence.
He also showcased SECL’s flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, including “SECL Ke Sushrut” and “SECL Ki Dhadkan,” highlighting their transformative impact in the fields of education and healthcare across the coal-bearing regions.
India’s BRICS Chairship 2026 is guided by the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” The three-day summit has brought together more than 50 international delegates, along with representatives of Indian trade unions, labour experts and academicians. Discussions during the summit are focused on key themes including universal social security, skill development for the future of work, human-centric technology and responsible AI, and women in the changing world of work.
