By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| Agartala, July 20: The Government of Tripura has entrusted G.S. Rao, IPS (TR:1999), with the additional charge of Director General of Police (Head of Police Force), Tripura, following the untimely demise of DGP Anurag, IPS (TR:1994). As per an order issued by the General Administration (Personnel & Training) Department on July 20, G.S. Rao, who is presently serving as ADGP (AP) and is the senior-most IPS officer in the State after Anurag, will hold the post of DGP (HoPF) in an in-charge capacity with immediate effect until further orders.

On 20th July 2026, the Director General of Tripura Police Anurag Dhankar was found dead at the Police Headquarters, the matter is under investigation.
