Anurag Jain Appointed CEO of NITI Aayog

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Anurag Jain, IAS (Madhya Pradesh: 1989), as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog.
According to the official order, Jain will assume charge with immediate effect and serve for the duration of his approved extension in service. Thereafter, he will continue as CEO for an overall period of two years or until further orders, whichever is earlier. His appointment will be governed by the same terms and conditions that were applicable to his predecessor.
A seasoned administrator with nearly four decades of experience, Anurag Jain has held several key assignments in both the Government of India and the Government of Madhya Pradesh. Widely regarded for his administrative acumen and policy expertise, he has played an important role in infrastructure development, industrial growth, and governance reforms during his career.
As CEO of NITI Aayog, Jain will be responsible for steering the government’s premier public policy think tank in supporting cooperative and competitive federalism, driving evidence-based policymaking, and facilitating the implementation of key national development priorities. His appointment comes at a time when the institution continues to play a pivotal role in shaping strategies for inclusive growth, innovation, and the vision of Viksit Bharat.
The appointment is expected to further strengthen NITI Aayog’s policy formulation and implementation framework by leveraging Jain’s extensive administrative experience and deep understanding of governance.
