By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| SECL has reinforced its commitment to workplace safety and employee well-being through two significant initiatives focused on mental wellness, occupational safety and disaster preparedness. Organised under the National Campaign on Environmental Protection and Disaster Management, the company held the “Mine Safety & Mind Safety – Safe Mind, Safe Mine” programme at its Bilaspur headquarters, followed by the 62nd Company-Level Bipartite Safety Committee Meeting.

The “Mine Safety & Mind Safety” programme marked the launch of the SECL – Inner Excellence Series, aimed at promoting personality development, mental empowerment and a culture of excellence among employees. Conducted jointly with the Scientists, Engineers & Architects (SEA) Wing of the Brahma Kumaris, the programme emphasised that workplace safety begins with a positive and balanced mindset. National Coordinator BK Piyush Bhai stressed that mental discipline, positive thinking, smart work and meditation are essential pillars of a safe mining environment. CMD Harish Duhan encouraged employees to pursue continuous self-improvement and contribute wholeheartedly to nation-building. The event also featured a collective pledge on environmental protection and disaster management along with a guided meditation session.

A day later, SECL convened its 62nd Company-Level Bipartite Safety Committee Meeting, the company’s highest platform for dialogue on occupational safety between management and workers’ representatives. Officials and trade union representatives renewed their commitment to the “Safety First, Prosperity Through Safety” pledge and reaffirmed the goal of achieving zero accidents. Director (Technical/Operations) N. Franklin Jayakumar emphasised that safety culture depends on awareness, discipline and individual responsibility, while Director (Technical/Planning & Projects) Ramesh Chandra Mohapatra highlighted the importance of modern technology, continuous training and strict adherence to safety standards. The meeting reviewed safety performance across operational areas, discussed risk mitigation strategies and acknowledged Jayakumar on his appointment as Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Northern Coalfields Limited, while also felicitating committee member Kamlesh Sharma on his retirement.
