By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| In a notable step towards advancing community healthcare and reinforcing its commitment to inclusive social development, Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL) has launched two landmark Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives—Project Arogya Mitra and Project Sehat Sathi – Nayi Drishti & Swastha Matritva—in Gorakhpur. The initiatives, inaugurated on July 29, 2026, underscore HURL’s vision of making quality healthcare more accessible while supporting preventive medicine, maternal well-being and specialised medical care.

The programmes were formally inaugurated by Dr. Siba Prasad Mohanty, Managing Director, HURL, in the presence of the Business Unit Head, Gorakhpur, Vice President (CSR), HURL, the Dean of BRD Medical College & Hospital, senior HURL officials, representatives from Manav Vikas Sanstha (MVS India) and HLFPPT, besides doctors and distinguished guests.

A major highlight of the initiative is Project Arogya Mitra, under which HURL has installed six state-of-the-art Health ATMs at key healthcare institutions in Gorakhpur—two each at SSB Composite Hospital, BRD Medical College & Hospital and Lalit Narayan Mishra Railway Hospital. Established at an investment of ₹52 lakh, these digital healthcare kiosks are equipped to conduct more than 50 diagnostic tests, including blood sugar, HbA1c, ECG, cholesterol, eye screening and audiometry. The technology enables patients to receive comprehensive health reports within 15 to 20 minutes, facilitating timely diagnosis and encouraging preventive healthcare practices.

Complementing this effort is Project Sehat Sathi – Nayi Drishti & Swastha Matritva, implemented in partnership with HLFPPT. As part of the programme, HURL dedicated a sophisticated Phaco Machine valued at ₹70.31 lakh to the Department of Ophthalmology at BRD Medical College & Hospital. The advanced equipment is expected to significantly strengthen cataract surgery capabilities and enhance specialised eye-care services for patients across the region.

The initiative also reflected HURL’s commitment to maternal and child healthcare. A traditional Godh Bharai ceremony was organised for 20 expectant mothers, who were provided with nutritional kits aimed at promoting healthy pregnancies and improving maternal nutrition. The programme highlighted the importance of preventive care, awareness and community support for mothers and newborns.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Siba Prasad Mohanty reaffirmed HURL’s dedication to strengthening public healthcare infrastructure through meaningful CSR interventions. He emphasised that the company’s social responsibility initiatives are designed not merely as philanthropic contributions but as sustainable investments in healthier communities and improved quality of life.

The launch of Project Arogya Mitra and Project Sehat Sathi reflects HURL’s holistic approach towards community welfare. By integrating digital health technology, specialised medical equipment and maternal healthcare support, the company is creating a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem that addresses both immediate medical needs and long-term public health outcomes.
