In addition, revenue from data connectivity charges stood at ₹258 crore, operating investment income at ₹234 crore, while data feed and terminal services contributed ₹150 crore.

Despite higher business activity, expenditure remained under control. Consolidated total expenses increased modestly by 7% to ₹1,129 crore from ₹1,053 crore a year earlier, enabling the exchange to maintain industry-leading operating efficiency.

NSE reported a consolidated operating EBITDA of ₹3,594 crore for Q1FY27, marking a 15% year-on-year growth from ₹3,130 crore. The operating EBITDA margin improved to an impressive 79%, up by 119 basis points from 78% in the corresponding quarter of FY26, underlining the exchange’s efficient cost management and scalable business model.

One of the most notable highlights of the quarter was NSE’s substantial contribution to the Government exchequer. The exchange contributed ₹20,579 crore during Q1FY27 through various collections and statutory payments. This included Securities Transaction Tax/Commodity Transaction Tax (STT/CTT) of ₹18,313 crore, stamp duty of ₹980 crore, GST of ₹657 crore, income tax of ₹373 crore and SEBI fees of ₹256 crore.

Within the total STT/CTT collections of ₹18,313 crore, the equity derivatives segment accounted for the largest share at 57%, followed by the cash market (delivery-based) segment at 37%, while the cash market (intraday) segment contributed 6%.

The Q1FY27 results underscore NSE’s continued financial resilience, operational excellence and growing role in India’s capital market ecosystem. The strong growth in revenues, sustained profitability, improved operating margins and sizeable contribution to the national exchequer reaffirm the exchange’s pivotal role in supporting market development while creating value for investors, market participants and the economy.
