By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| New Delhi: In a significant step towards accelerating Chhattisgarh’s growth trajectory, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Parliament House during his visit to New Delhi. The meeting focused on an ambitious and comprehensive roadmap for the state’s overall development, with special emphasis on the transformation of the Bastar region through sustained peace, inclusive governance and infrastructure-led progress.

During the interaction, the Chief Minister highlighted that Bastar is witnessing a remarkable transition driven by the government’s commitment to peace, public trust and good governance. Once challenged by security concerns, the region is steadily emerging as a hub of opportunity, with rapid advancements in education, healthcare, road and digital connectivity, tourism, sports infrastructure, industrial development and tribal empowerment. The state government believes that these initiatives are laying the foundation for long-term socio-economic transformation across southern Chhattisgarh.

Sai reaffirmed that the Chhattisgarh Government is working in close coordination with the Centre to realise the vision of “Viksit Bharat” through the creation of a “Viksit Chhattisgarh.” He credited the Prime Minister’s guidance and the Union Government’s continued support for enabling the state to pursue development with greater speed, inclusiveness and sustainability.

The Chief Minister also placed several key proposals before the Prime Minister seeking central assistance for strategic infrastructure and industrial projects. Among the most significant was a proposal for a ₹10,500-crore gas-based urea manufacturing plant in Rajnandgaon, expected to strengthen domestic fertiliser production, support the agricultural sector and generate substantial employment opportunities in the region.

Recognising the importance of reliable infrastructure in remote areas, Shri Sai sought support for connecting 461 villages in Bastar to the permanent electricity grid. The initiative is expected to improve quality of life, strengthen essential public services and enhance opportunities for education, healthcare and economic activities in tribal and rural communities.

Another major proposal discussed during the meeting was the establishment of an All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in either Raipur or Bastar. The proposed institute would strengthen traditional healthcare systems, promote research in Ayurveda and expand access to quality medical education and treatment facilities within the state.

The meeting also reflected the state’s growing focus on women-led development. Chief Minister Sai invited Prime Minister Modi to attend the proposed “Lakhpati Didi Sammelan” scheduled to be held in Raipur in 2027. The conference is expected to celebrate women’s entrepreneurship, self-help groups and financial empowerment while showcasing Chhattisgarh’s progress in promoting inclusive economic growth.

The high-level interaction underlined the shared commitment of the Centre and the State to fast-track development in Chhattisgarh, particularly in Bastar, through strategic investments, improved connectivity, industrial expansion and social empowerment. If implemented, the proposals discussed during the meeting could significantly strengthen the state’s economic potential while advancing the larger national vision of balanced regional development and a developed India.
