THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA| Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) has added another significant milestone to its journey of responsible corporate governance by securing two prestigious recognitions at the 13th National CSR & ESG Summit 2026 held in New Delhi. Organised by CSR Times under the theme, “Role of Responsible Businesses for Inclusive Bharat,” the summit celebrated organisations demonstrating excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices, and sustainable development. Representing the company, S. S. Lal, General Manager (Sustainable Development & CSR), received both awards on behalf of CCL.

CCL was honoured with the CSR Times Award 2026 in the Women Empowerment category for its flagship Project Prakrti. The initiative has successfully developed a tribal-run handloom cluster that produces naturally dyed cotton apparel, creating sustainable livelihood opportunities while preserving traditional craftsmanship and promoting environmentally responsible production practices. The project stands as an example of how CSR initiatives can simultaneously strengthen rural economies, empower women and encourage sustainable enterprise.

Further reinforcing its commitment to responsible business practices, CCL also received the Bharat ESG & Sustainability (BESG) Award 2026 for its outstanding overall performance across Environmental, Social and Governance parameters. The recognition reflects the company’s sustained efforts to integrate sustainability into its business strategy while balancing economic performance with social responsibility and environmental stewardship.

The dual honours underscore CCL’s growing focus on inclusive development, community empowerment and sustainable growth.
