SECL Organises Free Health Check-up Camp for Safai Mitras under Special Campaign 6

Contractual sanitation workers undergo health screening at Indira Vihar Health Centre; tests include ECG, lipid profile, kidney function and PFT
As part of Special Campaign 6 and Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) organised a free health check-up camp for Safai Mitras at its Indira Vihar Health Centre in Bilaspur on Monday. Contractual sanitation workers engaged at SECL’s Indira Vihar Colony, including women sanitation workers, underwent health screening at the camp.
The health check-up included blood pressure, blood sugar and general health assessment, along with ECG, lipid profile, kidney function test, blood tests and Pulmonary Function Test (PFT). Medical professionals also provided health-related consultation to the sanitation workers. Based on the test reports, further medical advice and medicines will be provided as required.
The camp was aimed at providing healthcare screening facilities to Safai Mitras, who play an important role in maintaining cleanliness, while also creating greater awareness about their health and safety.
Beneficiaries appreciated the initiative and said that access to multiple health tests and medical consultation at a single location helped them better understand their health status and receive necessary medical advice.
Special Focus on Health and Safety of Safai Mitras under Swachhata Hi Seva
The Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign is being observed across the country from 17 September to 2 October 2026 under the theme “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat.” One of the key pillars of the campaign is ‘SafaiMitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivirs’, with emphasis on health check-ups, safety equipment and facilitating access to eligible welfare schemes for Safai Mitras.
The health camp also forms part of SECL’s cleanliness and awareness initiatives under Special Campaign 6. The main implementation phase of Special Campaign 6 will be held from 2 to 31 October 2026, with focus on cleanliness and reduction of pendency, along with special emphasis this year on effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste.
Under Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 and Special Campaign 6, SECL is undertaking various cleanliness, awareness and participatory activities. The health camp for Safai Mitras is part of these efforts, placing the health, safety and dignity of sanitation workers at the centre of the cleanliness initiative.
