Siddh Nath Gupta, IPS (WB:1992), Director General & Inspector General of Police, West Bengal, has been granted a six-month extension in service beyond October 31, 2026. The extension has been approved in public interest with relaxation of Rule 16(1) of the All India Services (Death-Cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958. Accordingly, Gupta will continue to head the West Bengal Police beyond his scheduled date of superannuation. The decision ensures continuity in the leadership of the State police force and comes as an important administrative measure in the interest of effective policing and public service.
