The data presents a clear picture of expanding investigative capacity, sharper prosecution focus, and intensified action against money laundering, tax evasion, and financial irregularities.

ED Enforcement: 6,444 ECIRs and 2,416 Prosecution Complaints Filed

Since 2014-15, the ED has registered **6,444 ECIRs under PMLA**, with noticeable spikes after 2019. Major peaks include:

2021-22: 1,116 ECIRs
2020-21: 996 ECIRs
2024-25: 775 ECIRs

Parallel to this rise, ED filed 1,843 prosecution complaints and 573 supplementary complaints, totalling 2,416 over the decade.

Persons/Entities Named in ED Complaints: 16,404

The ED has filed prosecution complaints against **16,404 persons/entities**, including:

2018-19: 1,147 + 312 = 1,459 persons
2023-24: 2,789 + 526 = 3,315 persons (one of the highest years)
2024-25: 2,067 + 821 = 2,888 persons

Conviction Rate Under PMLA: 94.64%

Between 01.04.2014 and 30.11.2025, Special Courts delivered judgments in 56 PMLA cases, convicting 121 accused in 53 cases, resulting in a conviction rate of 94.64% for cases decided on merit.

Search and seizure operations reflect the intensified crackdown on laundering networks.

In the current financial year 2025-26, the department has filed 271 cases (as of 30.09.2025).

The combined data highlights a clear policy direction—an expanding enforcement footprint supported by higher prosecution numbers, increased ECIR filings, intensified search operations, and improved conviction outcomes under PMLA.
