The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Coal for appointment of B. Sairam, Director (Technical/P&P), Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) to the post of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) for a period with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post till the date of his superannuation i.e. 31.03.2028.

The PESB had recommended B Sairam’s candidature after his selection in November last year. B Sairam is a graduate mining engineer from NIT Raipur. He has 31 years of experience in the coal sector, having worked in different capacities in mine operations, planning, logistics and regulatory aspects. He did a 15-month full-time residential PGDM in Energy Management at NTPC School of Business Delhi. As part of the course, he underwent a 15-days’ immersion program at Nanyang Business School Singapore He was part of the team that travelled to Germany and Poland to study the Just Energy Transition efforts of those countries. He has the experience of heading the divisions of Employee Welfare, Public Relations and Legal as well. Before joining as Director (Technical) CCL, he served as Executive Director at CIL. After taking charge, Sairam interacted with the employees of the company.
