ACC Clears Appointment of Rajagopal as Railway Board Member & Reshuffle of IRMS GMs

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved a series of key appointments and transfers in the Indian Railway Management Service, strengthening leadership at the apex level and across major zonal railways.

R Rajagopal, IRMS, presently Director General (Human Resources), Railway Board, has been appointed as Member (Traction & Rolling Stock), Railway Board in Level 17 (Apex Scale). He will take charge following the relieving of Braj Mohan Agrawal from the post, who moves on to his new assignment as Administrative Member, Central Administrative Tribunal.

In a parallel reshuffle, the ACC has also approved the lateral transfer and posting of senior IRMS officers as General Managers in zonal railways. Naresh Pal Singh, General Manager of Banaras Locomotive Works, Varanasi, has been appointed as General Manager, North Central Railway, Prayagraj. Uday Borwankar, Director General of RDSO, Lucknow, will take charge as General Manager, North Eastern Railway, Gorakhpur. Subhransu Sekhar Mishra, General Manager of Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, has been posted as General Manager, Metro Railway, Kolkata. Vijay Kumar, currently General Manager of Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, Chittaranjan, will assume charge as General Manager, Central Railway, Mumbai, in place of Dharamveer Meena, who superannuates on 30 September 2025.

These appointments underscore the government’s focus on aligning experienced officers with critical responsibilities in the Railway Board and zonal railways, ensuring continuity and efficiency in the functioning of the Indian Railways.
