ACC Clears Senior-Level Appointments in CRPF, BSF, IB, NIA and SSB

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has cleared a series of important appointments at the level of Special Director General and Special Director across key paramilitary forces and intelligence agencies. The approvals follow the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs and cover CRPF, BSF, NIA, SSB, and the Intelligence Bureau.

In the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Zaki Ahmad, IG, has been appointed as Special Director General. He will serve in this capacity till his superannuation on 31 March 2028. Alongside him, Raja Srivastava (IPS, UP:1994) and Amit Kumar (IPS, BH:1994), both Additional Directors General in CRPF, have also been elevated as Special Director Generals, with their tenure lasting till 2029 and 2030 respectively. Deepak Kumar (IPS, AM:1994), presently ADG, CRPF, has also been appointed as Special DG on an in-situ basis for two years by upgrading his current post.

In the Border Security Force (BSF), Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal (IPS, TN:1994), presently ADG, has been appointed as Special Director General. He will hold the post till his superannuation in March 2032.

Within the Intelligence Bureau (IB), three senior officers – Apte Vinayak Prabhakar (IPS, TG:1994), Manmeet Singh Narang (IPS, MP:1994), and Anurag Kumar, Additional Director, have been appointed as Special Directors on an in-situ basis for a two-year tenure. Their appointments come through temporary upgradation of their existing posts.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) sees the appointment of Rakesh Aggarwal (IPS, HP:1994), ADG, as Special Director General on an in-situ basis for two years, while in the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Anupama Nilekar Chandra (IPS, BH:1994), Additional Director General, has been appointed as Special Director General on an in-situ basis, also for two years.

These appointments, all at the prestigious Level-16 in the pay matrix, mark a significant reshuffle across India’s internal security and intelligence architecture, strengthening leadership at the senior-most levels of multiple forces.
