Umar: Prominent Urdu Journalist Qamar Ashfaq was passed away in Bhopal on 15 December 2022, Qamar Ashfaq was a person with many distinctions. Being associated with same Urdu Daily for almost 50 years in city of Lake Bhopal speaks itself a lot about his dedication, conviction and the commitment to the world of journalism. In his journey of about five decades he made many reforms in Urdu Journalism. Many genres in Urdu Journalism rise from him and his peers. In the art of writing with simplicity he was a role model who became an integral part of journalism.
Qamar Ashfaq was one who witnessed changing era of journalism specially the Urdu side of journalism. Many of his readers now miss the flair of his pen in Urdu news reading. His contribution to preserve legacy of the Urdu language was remarkable.
Continuing the legacy of Qamar Ashfaq, his son Aman Shawar too opted the path of Journalism as a career, today Aman Shawar is a noted journalist of the country, Aman Shawar’s digital media initiative ‘news before it breaks’ is much liked among those who matter.
