On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, Ashishkumar Chauhan, Managing Director and CEO of National Stock Exchange (NSE), extended warm greetings, lauding the Prime Minister’s vision, leadership, and transformative role in shaping India’s growth story.

Chauhan highlighted that Modi is the first and only Prime Minister born after India’s independence and the second-longest consecutively serving Prime Minister in the country’s history. From his humble beginnings in Gujarat to becoming the nation’s leader at Lok Kalyan Marg in Delhi, Modi’s 24 years as head of democratically elected governments—both at the state and central levels—stand as a testimony to his perseverance, determination, and unwavering commitment to public service.

He noted that the Prime Minister’s policies, ranging from Jan Dhan Yojana to Chandrayaan 3, Ayushman Bharat to Digital India, Make in India to Swachh Bharat, NITI Aayog to Gati Shakti, and global initiatives like Mission LiFE and International Solar Alliance, have laid the foundation of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas.

Emphasizing India’s economic transformation under Modi’s leadership, Chauhan pointed out that the country has now emerged as the world’s fourth-largest economy and the fourth-largest capital market. The equity market capitalization of NSE-listed companies has seen a remarkable rise from about ₹67 lakh crore in May 2014 to nearly ₹460 lakh crore today.

Investor participation too has expanded significantly, with unique registered investors growing seven times in the past 11 years—from 1.7 crore in 2014 to nearly 12 crore today, collectively holding over 23 crore investor accounts across 99.85% of India’s PIN codes. This deepening of India’s capital markets, Chauhan noted, reflects the rise of the middle class, where nearly one in four households is now participating in equities, signaling growing trust in India’s economic future.

Recognizing Modi’s stature on the global stage, Chauhan said his leadership makes every Indian proud and inspires citizens to contribute towards national development. Extending his wishes, he said: “May the Prime Minister lead a long and healthy life and continue steering India towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.”
