Bhopal:Taking serious note of the waterlogging problem in Bhopal’s Banganga area, Collector Priyank Mishra personally visited the affected lanes at night and conducted a detailed ground-level assessment of the situation.

The Collector moved through the streets to understand the extent of water accumulation and assess the difficulties being faced by local residents. The inspection provided a first-hand assessment of the drainage situation and the challenges affecting the smooth discharge of rainwater.

Following the ground inspection, the Collector directed the Bhopal Municipal Corporation to take immediate steps to improve and streamline water drainage arrangements in the affected area. The instructions emphasised prompt action so that accumulated rainwater could be cleared without delay and residents could get relief.

The intervention assumes significance amid the monsoon, when heavy rainfall can place considerable pressure on the city’s drainage infrastructure. Waterlogging not only causes inconvenience to residents and commuters but can also affect sanitation, mobility and public health if stagnant water remains for prolonged periods.

The Collector’s decision to personally inspect the affected streets reflects a hands-on approach to civic administration, with emphasis on understanding problems at the ground level rather than relying only on official reports.

The directions to the Municipal Corporation also underline the need for coordinated and timely action by civic agencies to address vulnerable areas and strengthen drainage arrangements before further rainfall creates fresh challenges.

The Banganga inspection demonstrates the administration’s focus on responsive governance, with priority being given to immediate relief, effective civic infrastructure and the convenience of residents.
