After an exceptional 38-year journey, G. Krishnakumar, Chairman & Managing Director, concludes his illustrious tenure at BPCL—leaving behind not just milestones, but a legacy built on transformation, innovation, and people-first leadership.

Beginning his career in HR services, he set the tone early with a passion for nurturing talent and building a values-driven culture. His transition into marketing marked the beginning of an era defined by bold ideas—transforming the face of BPCL’s retail outlets, launching India’s first branded fuel, Speed, and crafting industry-first loyalty programs like PetroCard and SmartFleet.

His leadership extended beyond marketing. As the architect of MAK Lubricants’ turnaround, he drove customer-centric innovation and expanded its global footprint. His return to HRD saw a complete reimagining of talent development, establishing leadership pipelines and an integrated talent management system that set new organizational standards.

At the helm as Chairman & Managing Director, Krishnakumar guided BPCL through one of the most transformative periods in its history. From initiating the ₹1.70 lakh crore Project Aspire to championing green energy, digital transformation, and non-fuel retailing, his leadership reflected clarity of vision and fearless execution.

Under his stewardship, BPCL not only recorded its highest-ever profitability but also diversified its energy portfolio—spanning petrochemicals to hydrogen. His collaborative, inclusive leadership inspired teams across the board and forged a culture of resilience and innovation.

As he bids farewell, G. Krishnakumar leaves behind more than accomplishments—he leaves a legacy defined by purpose, passion, and unwavering commitment to people.
