BSE Delivers the Strongest Quarter in Its 150-Yrs Journey, Reinforcing India’s Capital Market Momentum

The record-breaking financial and operational results for the first quarter of FY2026-27 underscore the Exchange’s growing strength, expanding market participation and unwavering commitment to innovation, efficiency and wealth creation.

BSE reported its highest-ever consolidated quarterly revenue of ₹1,708 crore in Q1FY27, registering an impressive 63 per cent year-on-year growth from ₹1,044 crore. Revenue from operations also increased by 63 per cent to ₹1,566 crore, reflecting sustained momentum across its core businesses.

Consolidated net profit attributable to shareholders rose to ₹873 crore, marking a 62 per cent increase over ₹538 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The Exchange further strengthened its profitability with a net profit margin of 51 per cent, while consolidated Operating EBITDA, including Core SGF, reached ₹1,046 crore with a healthy operating EBITDA margin of 67 per cent.

Profit before tax and share of associates climbed 67 per cent to ₹1,144 crore. Investment and other income stood at ₹141 crore, up 63 per cent, demonstrating the Exchange’s strong financial foundation and disciplined operational management.

BSE continued to register record operational milestones across its business verticals. The Equity Cash segment achieved its highest-ever quarterly Average Daily Turnover (ADTV) of ₹9,955 crore, reflecting robust investor participation and enhanced market liquidity.

The Derivatives segment emerged as a standout performer, recording an all-time high average daily premium turnover of ₹29,615 crore during Q1FY27, representing an exceptional 96 per cent year-on-year growth. The successful launch of derivatives on the BSE Focused IT Index—India’s first exchange-traded derivative product benchmarked to the Information Technology sector—further demonstrated the Exchange’s focus on product innovation.

BSE STAR MF maintained its impressive growth trajectory by processing 23.4 crore transactions during the quarter, an increase of 28 per cent year-on-year, while revenues rose 20 per cent to ₹73.3 crore. Simultaneously, BSE Technologies’ StAR NPS platform continued expanding its network of Central Recordkeeping Agencies and Pension Fund Managers, reinforcing BSE’s position as a comprehensive investment and retirement solutions platform.

The Exchange also remained a preferred destination for capital raising. During Q1FY27, issuers mobilised more than ₹6.2 lakh crore through BSE’s fund-raising platforms across equity, debt, bonds, commercial papers, REITs, InvITs and municipal bonds, reflecting continued confidence in BSE’s robust and reliable market infrastructure.

The SME ecosystem also witnessed remarkable progress as BSE SME crossed the milestone of 750 listed companies. Significantly, the latest 150 SME listings alone mobilised ₹6,323 crore, highlighting the Exchange’s growing contribution to nurturing emerging enterprises and strengthening India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Primary market activity showed encouraging recovery during July 2026, with 15 mainboard IPOs collectively raising ₹18,348 crore, signalling improving investor sentiment and renewed issuer confidence.

Looking ahead, BSE announced that it will directly manage the global distribution and licensing of its market data from January 1, 2027, a strategic initiative expected to strengthen global client engagement while accelerating the growth of its data and analytics business.

Adding another feather to its cap, BSE was recently honoured with the prestigious “Wealth Creator of the Year” award at the NDTV Profit Business Leadership Awards. The honour was presented by Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman and received by MD & CEO Sundararaman Ramamurthy. Acknowledging the recognition, Ramamurthy dedicated the award to BSE’s employees and stakeholders, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support throughout the Exchange’s remarkable turnaround journey.

Commenting on the stellar quarterly performance, Sundararaman Ramamurthy said Q1 FY27 marked another landmark quarter for BSE, characterised by record financial performance, strong growth across business segments, continued product innovation and expanding market participation. He reaffirmed BSE’s commitment to strengthening market infrastructure, driving innovation and creating sustainable long-term value for issuers, investors, intermediaries and all stakeholders.
