Cabinet Approves Key Police Appointments: RA Chandrashekhar Named Secretary (Security), 38 IPS Officers Elevated as ADGs

(THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM) | Bureau Report : In a significant administrative move, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved a set of major appointments at the senior level in the Central Government. The decisions, announced on Saturday, June 14, include the elevation of one senior IPS officer to the rank of Secretary and the placement of 38 officers in the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADG) at the Centre.
R.A. Chandrashekhar, a 1991 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the Kerala cadre, has been appointed as the new Secretary (Security) in the Cabinet Secretariat. Currently serving as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau, Shri Chandrashekhar will assume charge of the post on or after August 1, 2025. His appointment will be effective until further orders or until the date of assumption, whichever comes earlier.
He will succeed Harinath Mishra, also from the Kerala cadre (1990 batch), who has held the position since November 29, 2024.
38 IPS Officers Appointed as ADGs
In another notable move, the Cabinet panel has also cleared the appointment of 38 IPS officers to the post of Additional Director General of Police (ADG) at the Centre. These officers, drawn from various cadres across the country, will now take up critical roles in central police organisations and departments.
The newly appointed ADGs include:
Atul Singh, Nayyar Hasnain Khan, Abhinav Kumar, Bhanu Bhaskar, Jyoti Narain, Hargobinder Singh, Sagar Preet Hooda, Sharad Agarwal, Viplav Kumar Choudhry, N Madhusudhana Reddy, Omendra Nath Bhaskar, Jaideep Singh, Anand Pratap Singh, Amitabh Singh Dhillon, Ashish Batra, Samir S Ilme, Janardan Singh, Rekha Lohani, Sanjay Kumar, Pavan Kumar Rai, Vijay Kumar Singh, Devendra Singh Chauhan, Sanjay Kumar Jain, Vijay Kumar, Abhin Dinesh Modak, Ayush Mani Tiwari, Maheshwar Dayal, Sumit Sharan, Saurabh Tripathi, Sanjay Kumar Gunjyal, Neelesh Kumar, Raghubir Lal, Rahul Srivastav, Rajesh Subarno, Mukesh Singh, Vijay Kumar-II, Mahipal Yadav, and K Jayaraman.
These appointments are expected to further strengthen the administrative and security framework at the national level and ensure robust leadership across key policing and intelligence roles.
