The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Raipur (Chhattisgarh) has sentenced Dilip Kumar Das, then Income Tax Officer, Raipur in a case of possession of disproportionate assets, to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 5,00,000/-.

CBI had registered the case against the accused on 11.05.2011. The accused was caught red handed by CBI while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000/- from the complainant for settling his income tax assessment matter. During investigation of the bribery case, searches in the premises of accused were conducted which led to recovery of huge assets besides incriminating documents.

CBI investigation revealed that Dilip Kumar Das during the period 22-11-2001 to 13-01-2011 had acquired disproportionate assets worth approximately Rs 1,62,64,828/- to his known sources of income. The percentage of disproportionate assets was calculated to the tune of approximately 488 percent. After investigation, a charge sheet was filed against the accused on 25-5-2012 in the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Raipur.

The Trial Courts found the two accused guilty and convicted them in separate cases.
