It also assessed the progress made in implementing the recommendations and action points from the previous Tripartite Safety Committee meeting. Discussions focused on strengthening workplace safety, occupational health, statutory compliance, and enhancing the welfare and protection of mine workers through various strategic initiatives.

The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by R. T. Mandekar, Deputy Director General (DDG), Central Zone, along with senior DGMS officials, Safety Board members, and CCL directors and officers. DGMS officials and Safety Board members were felicitated with shawls and bouquets in recognition of their contributions to mine safety.

S. S. Prasad, Deputy Director General (DDG), South Eastern Zone, emphasized the need to further strengthen safety measures for women employees working in mines. He also highlighted the importance of improving infrastructure and reinforcing the Annual Periodical Medical Examination (PME) system.

R. T. Mandekar stressed the need for separate washroom facilities for women employees, the establishment of modern Vocational Training Centres, and the creation of a dedicated task force under the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) framework. Drawing on his experience across mining organizations, he shared practical recommendations that were well received by the participants.

In his concluding remarks, Nilendu Kumar Singh appreciated the valuable suggestions made by DGMS officials, particularly the DDG (Central Zone) and DDG (South Eastern Zone), for improving worker safety. He assured the committee that CCL would implement the recommendations in a time-bound manner, reiterating that employee safety remains the organization’s highest priority. He called upon all stakeholders to work together to achieve the nation’s coal production targets while upholding the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.
