Centre Empanels 35 IPS Officers for DG and Equivalent-Level Posts

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the empanelment of 35 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers for holding posts at the Centre at the rank of Director General (DG) or equivalent. The officers belong to the 1993 and 1994 batches and represent a wide range of state cadres, highlighting the Centre’s ongoing efforts to reinforce senior leadership across key security and administrative functions.

From the 1993 batch, seven officers have been empanelled, including Jitendra Kumar (Bihar), Neeraja Gotru Rao (Gujarat), Manvinder Singh Bhatia (Jharkhand), R P Rao Koche (Odisha), Rajiv Singh (Tripura), Zaki Ahmad (Uttar Pradesh), and Anurag Kumar (AGMUT).

The majority—28 officers—are from the 1994 batch. Notable names include Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gilani (AGMUT), Deepak Kumar (Arunachal Pradesh), Manoj Shashidhar (Gujarat), Rakesh Aggarwal (Himachal Pradesh), Sampat Meena (Jharkhand), Pronab Mohanty (Karnataka), Anant Kumar Singh and Manmeet Singh Narang (Madhya Pradesh), Yeshwant Kumar Jethwa (Odisha), and a number of senior officers from Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and other states.

This empanelment reflects the Centre’s commitment to enhancing national security, internal policing, and administrative leadership with experienced and diverse talent from across the country. The empanelled officers will now be eligible for appointments to top positions in various ministries, departments, and central police organizations.
