Chhattisgarh Govt. appoints IPS officer Arun Dev Gautam as DGP

In a significant administrative development, the Chhattisgarh government has formally appointed Arun Dev Gautam as the Director General of Police (DGP) of the state. A senior IPS officer from the 1992 batch
, Gautam assumes charge as the head of the Chhattisgarh Police after serving in the role in an interim capacity. The appointment reflects the government’s confidence in his vast policing experience and leadership capabilities.

Over the course of his distinguished career, Gautam has handled a wide range of challenging assignments, particularly in Maoist-affected areas of the state. Widely regarded as an officer with strong operational expertise, he has played an important role in maintaining law and order and strengthening security mechanisms in sensitive regions.

Following the creation of Chhattisgarh, Gautam became part of the state cadre and served in several key districts such as Raigarh, Rajnandgaon, Surguja, Bilaspur, Korea and Jashpur. His administrative experience and field exposure have made him one of the most seasoned officers in the state police establishment.

Arun Dev Gautam has received several prestigious honours during his service career, including the President’s Police Medal, the Indian Police Medal and the United Nations Medal for peacekeeping duties in Kosovo. His elevation to the top post is expected to provide experienced leadership to the police force and further reinforce internal security and policing initiatives across Chhattisgarh.
