India Achieves the Milestone of 1 Billion Tonnes of Coal Production, Two employees of SECL were honored for their exceptional contribution towards India’s achievement of 1 billion tonnes of coal production. The recognition came from the Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal & Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, and the Minister of State for Coal & Mines, Satish Chandra Dubey.

On March 27, 2025, during the 12th round of the Commercial Coal Mine Auction in New Delhi, employees from Coal India Limited’s subsidiaries were celebrated for their roles in this historic achievement.

In the officer category, Prashant Sharma, General Manager of Mining and Sub-Area Manager at Bijuri Sub-Area in Hasdeo Area, was recognized for his efficient operations and early target achievement in Baherabandh and Bijuri Underground Mines.

In the employee category, Rajesh Kumar Patil, Senior Overman at Jagannathpur Opencast Mine in Bhathgaon Area, was awarded for his significant contributions toward reaching the overburden (OB) removal target.

SECL’s Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Harish Duhan, congratulated both employees for their dedication and hard work. He expressed that this moment was a source of pride for the entire SECL family and motivated all employees to maintain their energy and commitment.
