By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| Bhopal, October 7, 2025: Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana chaired an extensive review meeting at the new conference hall of Police Headquarters, Bhopal, to assess the state’s law and order, crime control measures, staff management, and ongoing administrative reforms. The meeting was attended by all Zonal IGs, DIGs, SPs, and heads of various police branches.
This high-level review, held after a considerable gap, aimed to strengthen policy coordination and operational efficiency within the police organization. DGP Makwana emphasized that continuous improvement and modernization in policing are essential to meet present-day challenges. He stated that maintaining law and order goes beyond crime prevention — it also involves fostering peace, trust, and a sense of security among citizens.
Highlighting critical concerns, the DGP directed strict vigilance during VVIP events, immediate and impartial action in sensitive cases, and firm, targeted strategies to curb cybercrime, Naxal activities, and narcotics networks. He underscored that effective and well-planned actions in these areas are vital for lasting crime control. He further urged recognition and timely rewards for officers and personnel delivering outstanding performance.
Makwana informed that the recruitment process for 8,500 new posts has already begun to fill departmental vacancies. Commending the effective operations against Naxal activities, he noted that progress in this area reflects improved coordination and ground-level execution.
The DGP also reviewed the growing challenges of cybercrime, drug trafficking, and road safety, instructing officers to handle issues related to women’s safety and social media misuse with utmost seriousness. Decisions were taken to make the police system more professional and efficient, including accelerating staff audits and ensuring optimal utilization of the force.
He directed early preparations for the upcoming Simhastha 2028, stressing the need for a robust strategy for crowd management, security, and traffic control during the mega religious event.
Focusing on digital transformation, DGP Makwana called for strengthening digital policing platforms such as Dial-112, CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems), and the Public Grievance Portal, ensuring quick, sensitive, and transparent responses to public complaints. He instructed all police stations to strictly comply with directives of the Hon’ble High Court and Supreme Court.
Makwana reiterated that discipline, professional balance, and human sensitivity are the foundation of effective policing. He advised officers to interact with the public with patience and empathy while maintaining promptness in their actions to reinforce citizens’ faith in the police.
Praising the consistent efforts of field officers, he acknowledged the successful detection of major cases, property recoveries, and arrests of offenders. He also emphasized timely staff rotation, the implementation of micro-beat systems, and stress management programs to enhance the mental well-being and efficiency of police personnel.
Concluding the meeting, DGP Makwana asserted that policing is not limited to crime control but also about building trust, transparency, and a positive public image. A sensitive, responsive, and professional police force, he said, is the true reflection of good governance in a democratic society.
