The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has issued an instruction emphasizing the importance of timely submission of the Annual Immovable Property Return (IPR) by government servants. According to the directive, members of the Central Civil Services/Posts are required to submit their IPR for the previous year to their cadre controlling authority by January 31st of the following year, without fail. The IPR should be submitted in the prescribed form and mode.The DoPT has stressed the need for regular collection and careful scrutiny of these returns, with prior circulars reiterating this requirement. Failure to comply with the submission timeline can lead to disciplinary proceedings against the government servant. Despite these repeated instructions, delays in submission have been observed in some cases, which can hinder the issuance of vigilance clearance for the concerned officers.
