The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, has released the provisional inter-se-seniority list of 182 IAS probationers belonging to the 2020 batch. The list, issued vide letter which has been circulated to all Chief Secretaries of States and Union Territories for onward dissemination among the concerned officers.

Out of 184 IAS probationers of the 2020 batch, 182 have successfully completed their requisite training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie. The inter-se-seniority of the remaining two probationers will be determined later upon completion of their training.

According to the DoPT notification signed by Under Secretary Kavita Chauhan, the inter-se-seniority has been fixed on the basis of marks obtained in the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2019* and performance during training at the Academy, as per Rule 10(1) of the Indian Administrative Service (Probation) Rules, 1954.

The list highlights the outstanding performance of several young officers. Jatin Kishore (AGMUT cadre) tops the national list, followed by Neha Banerjee (West Bengal cadre) and Pradeep Singh (Haryana cadre). Other high-ranking officers include Raunak Agarwal (West Bengal), Pratibha Verma (Rajasthan), and Apurv Chauhan (Rajasthan).

The document also provides a comprehensive cadre-wise merit arrangement, showing representation from across the country — from Jammu & Kashmir to Tamil Nadu, and from Gujarat to Assam-Meghalaya. These officers, now posted in various states and UTs, are expected to contribute significantly to governance, policy implementation, and administrative reforms at the grassroots level.

The DoPT has advised all state governments to circulate the provisional list and report any discrepancies within a month for necessary rectification. Once finalized, the list will determine service seniority, cadre placement, and promotional hierarchy within the Indian Administrative Service for this cohort.

The release of the 2020 batch inter-se-seniority list marks another milestone in India’s civil service framework, reflecting the commitment to transparency and meritocracy in the nation’s premier administrative service.
