By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has withdrawn recognition of the Central Secretariat Club in New Delhi, citing persistent governance failures, irregularities, and non-compliance with institutional norms.
Established to promote welfare and recreation among Central Government employees, the Club had earlier faced de-recognition before its recognition was restored in 2005 following assurances of reform. However, repeated complaints regarding financial mismanagement, internal disputes, procedural violations, and failure to follow constitutional provisions prompted renewed scrutiny.
The DoPT noted that the Executive Committee failed to conduct timely elections after its tenure ended in July 2025, resulting in the absence of a legally valid governing body. Allegations of misuse of authority, restricted membership practices, and disregard of official directives further weakened institutional credibility.
With no lawful management in place, the Competent Authority ordered immediate withdrawal of recognition to ensure accountability and safeguard government property.
